® The grease fitting

Apparently some on the sohc4 forum are confused about the swingarm pivot grease fittings found on early SOHC fours such as the CB500 and CB750. Word is they are yanking them out, drilling and threading the holes, and installing automotive threaded fittings. Hmm, why? The part is still available from Honda; they haven't exactly had a run on this low-maintenance piece. If for some reason you feel it's clogged, replace it with the factory part. Why mess up your bike with goofy substitutes? Why do all that work for nothing? And really, is it the fitting that's clogged? Or is there a buildup of dirt and rust around the swingarm pivot bolt?
